Full-Stack Developer

Panelista is a Swiss speaker discovery platform developed by Hello 50:50 World, a Zurich-based nonprofit working to create a more inclusive tech and event ecosystem.

We are building a platform that helps event organizers discover speakers in a more fair, intentional, and context-aware way, while giving speakers greater ownership over how they are represented.

About the role

We are looking for a Full-stack Engineer to help build and shape Panelista across both frontend and backend.

This role is suited to someone who enjoys working across the stack—building user-facing features while also contributing to the underlying systems that support them.

You will work closely with the core team to turn product ideas into a system that is coherent, maintainable, and able to evolve over time.

What You’ll Work On
  • Build and improve frontend features using React, TypeScript, and TailwindCSS
  • Develop backend services using Django and Django REST Framework
  • Design and integrate APIs between frontend and backend components
  • Work with PostgreSQL for data modeling and queries
  • Contribute to features related to search, filtering, and matching
  • Help structure and organize the codebase across frontend and backend
  • Improve performance, reliability, and overall system quality
  • Support development and deployment workflows using Docker and CI/CD

Ideal Profile

You likely have experience with:

  • 3–5 years working across both frontend (React, TypeScript) and backend (Python/Django or similar)
  • Building and shipping features that span UI, APIs, and data layers
  • Working with REST APIs and relational databases (PostgreSQL)
  • Writing clean, maintainable code across different parts of a system

You are comfortable:

  • Working in an evolving product with changing requirements
  • Moving between frontend and backend depending on needs
  • Thinking about both user experience and system design
  • Asking questions and challenging unclear requirements constructively

What We Value
  • Clear, pragmatic engineering decisions
  • Simplicity and maintainability over unnecessary complexity
  • Thoughtful handling of tradeoffs and limitations
  • Good communication within a small, collaborative team
  • Interest in contributing to a mission-driven product

Engagement
  • Freelance
  • Potential for longer-term collaboration

Compensation structure to be discussed based on scope and stage of funding.

Why this role matters

This is an opportunity to shape a mission driven platform at a foundational moment.

You will help define the technical direction of the product, clarify responsible development practices, and support the conditions needed for Panelista to move forward effectively.
